CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have returned Bobby Jenks from his injury rehabilitation assignment to Double-A Birmingham and have reinstated the right-hander from the 15-day disabled list.

Jenks, 27, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 9 (retroactive to June 30) with left scapula bursitis. He posted a 4.50 ERA (1 ER/2.0 IP) and three strikeouts in two combined rehab starts with Single-A Winston-Salem and Birmingham.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder has gone 2-0 with a 1.95 ERA (7 ER/32.1 IP) and 18 saves in 29 games this season. He ranks seventh in the American League in ERA and is tied for ninth in saves. Jenks last pitched on June 29 vs. the Cubs when he recorded the save to finish the White Sox three-game sweep.

To make on the 25-man roster for Jenks, the White Sox optioned right-handed pitcher D.J. Carassco to Triple-A Charlotte yesterday.
