White Sox to host first ever "Charities Week" 07/27/2009 2:51 PM ETMLB.com
CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox announced today the club will host Chicago White Sox Charities Week from August 4-8. The inaugural fundraising campaign will engage both fans attending games during the designated homestand, along with those who choose to watch from home. The week will culminate with a specially televised in-game online auction featuring premium prizes including White Sox memorabilia and VIP experiences. The schedule for the week is as follows: Tuesday, August 4, 7:11 p.m. – White Sox vs. Angels Wednesday, August 5, 7:11 p.m. – White Sox vs. Angels Thursday, August 6, 1:05 p.m. – White Sox vs. Angels Friday, August 7, 7:11 p.m. – White Sox vs. Indians Saturday, August 8, 6:05 p.m. – White Sox vs. Indians Proceeds from each night's fundraisers benefit White Sox Charities, which provides annual financial, in-kind and emotional support to hundreds of Chicago-based organizations, including those leading the fight against cancer or dedicated to improving the lives of Chicago's youth through education and athletics. This year, the organization has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants and other monetary donations. This year's contributions move the team's non-profit arm near $15 million in cumulative giving since its inception.
