White Sox hold 'Ultimate Auction' to benefit charity

CHICAGO - Chicago White Sox Charities Week, the organization's inaugural fundraising campaign (August 4-8), will conclude with a specially televised in-game online auction, the 'Ultimate Auction,' featuring White Sox memorabilia and VIP experiences. Each auction item will be profiled during the Saturday, August 8 game broadcast on WGN-TV.

The premium items and experiences available for fans to bid on during the Ultimate Auction include the following:

The 'Perfect Package'
The Perfect Package features a variety of Mark Buehrle autographed items, including a jersey, cap, baseball, framed No-Hitter print from April 18, 2007, framed Perfect Game print from July 23, 2009 and a personal meet-and-greet and photo opportunity with Buehrle on the field prior to a game. The winning bid also will receive four premium lower box tickets and a parking pass to a mutually agreed upon date in 2009.

"You Can Put it on the Board!" Broadcast Experience
This special broadcast experience includes dinner in the United Scout Lounge with Ken "Hawk" Harrelson and Steve Stone, a behind the scenes tour of the WGN-TV broadcast truck and a visit to both the TV and radio broadcast booths. The winning bid also will receive four premium lower box tickets and a parking pass to a mutually agreed upon date in 2009.

"The Sodfather" Groundskeeping Experience
Fans can bid on a groundskeeping experience for two on Tuesday, September 8. This experience includes the opportunity to prep and water the field pregame with White Sox groundskeeper Roger Bossard and change the bases during the 4th inning. The recipients will be able to take home the base they changed, along with official White Sox Groundscrew t-shirts, authentic U.S. Cellular Field sod and a vial of clay from Old Comiskey Park. Two premium lower box tickets and one parking pass to that evening's game also are included in the package.

'Suite Home Chicago'
Fans can bid on the opportunity to indulge guests in a 20-person suite at a White Sox, Blackhawks and Bulls home game. The three suites include twenty game tickets and a standard food and beverage package.

White Sox Deluxe Autographed Hall of Fame Package
This package includes autographed items from White Sox Hall of Famers, including an autographed baseball and framed print from Luis Aparicio, a Hall of Fame program and baseball from Goose Gossage and a 1983 jersey and bat from Carlton Fisk.

Ultimate White Sox VIP Fireworks Package
The ultimate White Sox VIP fireworks package includes the opportunity to attend batting practice and obtain autographs from White Sox players, four tickets to the exclusive Jim Beam Club (on a mutually agreed upon fireworks night in 2009) and the chance to watch postgame fireworks from the White Sox dugout with a surprise guest.

Camelback Ranch Spring Training Getaway
Fans can bid on a once-in-a-lifetime experience at the new White Sox Spring Training Facility in Glendale, Ariz. The getaway includes a behind the scenes tour of Camelback Ranch, a meet and greet with two White Sox players, tickets to a game and the opportunity to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a 2010 Spring Training game. Also included is a $1,000 travel voucher (all other travel expenses are not included).

Beginning at 4 p.m. CT on the day of the game, fans can place bids on the auction items at, with the auction closing at 8 p.m. CT that same evening.

Proceeds from 'Charities Week' will benefit White Sox Charities, which provides annual financial, in-kind and emotional support to hundreds of Chicago-based organizations, including those leading the fight against cancer or dedicated to improving the lives of Chicago's youth through education and athletics. This year, the organization has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants and other monetary donations. This year's contributions move the team's non-profit arm near $15 million in cumulative giving since its inception.
