White Sox Volunteer Corps

2014 VOLUNTEER CORPS

We are excited to embark on our sixth year of service and volunteerism. More than 6,200 fans have answered the call to service, and we appreciate your commitment to bettering the community. We look forward to an exciting season of service!

Our Mission
The White Sox Volunteer Corps was created to encourage fans and community-minded Chicagoans to join together and better their communities through service. The team organizes events that incorporate support from players, staff and members of the volunteer group to serve shoulder-to-shoulder to make a positive and lasting impact in our community.

Volunteer Opportunities
The Chicago White Sox recognizes opportunities including mass mobilized service days, food repacks and mobile pantries, book sorting sessions, park clean-ups and more. Our calendar of events is listed below, with more details for each to be sent via email. If you have any questions, ideas or comments, please feel free to email us at volunteercorps@whitesox.mlb.com. We'd love to hear from you.

2014 Calendar & Registration Details

 NOVEMBER

Wednesday, November 19 - "One City, One Food Drive" with Greater Chicago Food Depository

Join the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD) in their city-wide food drive campaign to collect enough food donations from the general public to provide one million meals to those in need. You will help distribute brown paper bags to commuters at Chicago Union Station from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Commuters are asked to fill the bag with food items and bring back the bag to any one of the public drop-off locations in the city. Registration for this event can be completed by emailing volunteercorps@chisox.com with your name and contact information. Please list "One Food Drive" as the subject line and the White Sox will send you an email confirmation and event details.

 DECEMBER

Saturday, December 6 - "Senior Holiday Luncheon" with the Chicago Housing Authority

The Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) hosts an annual Senior Holiday Luncheon, inviting 1,000 seniors to attend an entertaining lunch event at Navy Pier in Chicago. Help CHA from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with transporting seniors in wheelchairs from the bus to the event location, directing seniors to their seats at arrival and dismissal, and assisting with activities throughout the event. Parking for volunteers will be free at Navy Pier, and lunch is provided. To sign-up for the Senior Holiday Luncheon, click here.

Tuesday, December 9 - White Sox Kids Holiday Party

The White Sox host an annual holiday party for members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and the Chicago Housing Authority. Kids will participate in arts and crafts activities, enjoy holiday entertainment, a baseball fare meal and a special visit by Southpaw and Santa! This year's party takes place in the Patio of U.S. Cellular Field and we are expecting 500 children to attend. We need help at the ballpark from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. To register for this event, please email volunteercorps@chisox.com with your name and contact information. Make sure to put "Kids Holiday Party" as the subject line and the White Sox will send you an email confirmation and event details.
