Chicago White Sox Community Outreach mission
The ultimate goal of the Chicago White Sox is to compete for a championship on the field every season. We take great pride in our teams' accomplishments on the field, but just as important to the organization are our accomplishments off-the-field. The White Sox recognize and accept the responsibility to serve all Chicagoans in the greater Chicagoland community. Our outreach through Chicago White Sox Charities, the team's philanthropic arm, along with the club's year-round community relations efforts, touch the lives of our neighbors in many different ways. In addition to the in-kind support provided by the club, White Sox Charities provides financial and emotional support to hundreds of Chicago-based organizations, including those leading the fight against cancer, dedicated to improving the lives of youth through recreation and education, and those offering support to children and families in crisis. With the generous support of White Sox fans, friends and sponsors, White Sox Charities has donated nearly $15 million since its inception in 1990, striving to improve the quality of life for Chicagoans of all ages, races and genders. To the White Sox, winning goes beyond the diamond into the community. The White Sox and White Sox Charities want to inspire, educate and embrace Chicago to create a lasting legacy for future generations. |

Thank you so much for putting together such a great opening event! My husband Dan, my friend Vicky and I were very excited to have the opportunity to answer Obama’s call to community service. Plus as White Sox fans, how could we say no?
We were on team 20 which was a part of the group sent to Holy Angels Boys and Girls Club. Upon arriving at Holy Angels, we received our assignment to construct a planter bench. We were paired up with enthusiastic volunteers Jenny and Amanda and got straight to work putting together the tricky bench. From our group there was lots of laughter, and the cloudy skies did little to sour our good mood. After several hours, we saw the fruits of our labor and were quite proud of our little bench. Thank you again for the opportunity to help enhance Chicago's communities, and we look forward to the next project!
Cheers!
