Two time MVP Frank Thomas led all voting as the White Sox announced the franchise's 27-player "Team of the Century" on September 30, 2000, commemorating 100 years of White Sox baseball. Thomas received 10,822 votes and was followed by Joe Jackson (9,293), Luke Appling (9,234), Carlton Fisk (8,866) and Nellie Fox (8,727). More than 200,000 votes were cast on 18,500 in-stadium and online ballots during the month-long voting.
Ten of the 27 players are Hall of Famers, including the recently inducted Fisk, and six played during the Go-Go Sox era of the 1950s.
