Sox look to streaking Danks vs. Jays

John Danks has improved significantly from his rookie season, and faces another young pitcher, Jesse Litsch, on Saturday, as he looks to even up the series on the road.

John Danks

  • LHP
  • (2-2) 3.00 ERA
White Sox: Danks has been nothing short of brilliant the last three starts, going 2-1 with a 0.85 ERA. Over those outings, the lefty has allowed just two runs on 12 hits over 21 innings while striking out 16. Danks deserved a better fate during Saturday's first game loss against the Orioles, giving up just two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings. He struck out four and didn?t issue a walk, extending his streak to 66 batters without giving up a free pass. Danks has one career start at Rogers Centre but did not factor in the decision.

Rehabbing Rolen a pleasant surprise

Scott Rolen has provided a steady bat for a Blue Jays offense that's struggled to find consistency this season. Toronto's third baseman has been a welcome addition, showing no ill effects of the finger injury that sidelined him to begin the season.

Blue Jays probable pitcher

Jesse Litsch

  • RHP
  • (3-1) 4.85 ERA
Blue Jays: Litsch turned in his best outing of the young season on Sunday, defeating the Royals on the road while going a season-high seven innings. The 23-year-old right-hander surrendered two runs (one earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks in the 93-pitch effort. It was a drastic contrast to his previous start, in which he lasted 3 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays. Litsch has never faced the White Sox.

Hitters held in check

The White Sox offense has struggled this season, showing a penchant for going deep with regularity but otherwise standing still. That trend continued on Saturday. John Danks was solid, allowing only two runs, but he lasted just 4 2/3 innings.

Litsch leads the way

The Toronto starting rotation has been on something of a tear of late, and right-hander Jesse Litsch kept it rolling on Saturday, as he limited the White Sox to just five hits over 7 1/3 innings. The Blue Jays' bats came through in the clutch, too.
