With Scott Baker'’s strained right groin muscle keeping him a question mark for his next start, the Twins decided to call up Slowey. The right-hander has not pitched in the Majors since April 3, when he left his start after just 3 1/3 innings with a right biceps strain. After letting the injury heal during a DL stint, Slowey headed to the Minors and made three starts there. He last pitched for Triple-A Rochester on May 1, giving up two earned runs over five innings. He allowed two walks and struck out nine. Slowey is 1-0 with a 1.86 ERA in two career starts against Chicago.

Bats show promise

After being silenced early on by Kevin Slowey, the White Sox put together a three-run fifth off him to swing the game and didn't look back. Jermaine Dye homered for the third straight game to lead off the inning, and Juan Uribe put the White Sox ahead with a two-run blast.
