Rookie right-hander Luke Hochevar has been having a problem with his best pitch, the sinker. The pitch will be crucial for him against the White Sox. He needs to keep his sinkers in the strike zone.

  • #44 RHP
  • (3-5) 4.98 ERA 33 SO
Hochevar got out of trouble for a while in his last outing, Thursday against Minnesota, but it didn't last. He loaded the bases in the fourth and escaped by allowing just one run. In the sixth, he loaded them again and got replaced by Ron Mahay. Hochevar got charged with two more runs and finished with 5 1/3 innings pitched and five runs. It was the second straight rough outing for the rookie. In his other most recent start, he allowed a grand slam in the first inning. Hochevar has lost his last three starts.
