Rangers look to get offense in gear

The Rangers were the highest-scoring team in the first half, but their bats went silent over the weekend in Minneapolis, producing only three runs in losing two of three to the Twins. Texas looks to get back on track when it begins a three-game set with the White Sox.

Rangers probable pitcher

Scott Feldman

  • #39 RHP
  • (3-3) 5.03 ERA 41 SO
Rangers: Eric Hurley was scratched with a sore arm, so the Rangers tabbed Feldman to take his place. After compiling mostly solid numbers in May and June, Feldman had a rough start to July. He was scheduled to return as a member of the bullpen, but instead will step right into the starting rotation.

White Sox seek even-keeled series

With the lineup and pitching staff struggling to synchronize in back-to-back losses to the Royals this weekend, the White Sox will need better results for their three-game set vs. the Rangers.

White Sox probable pitcher

Javier Vazquez

  • #33 RHP
  • (7-7) 4.61 ERA 117 SO
White Sox: Vazquez will endure the longest layoff between starts of Chicago's starters, going 12 days since his start on July 9 at Kansas City. That outing, Vazquez was tagged for six runs on 11 hits in 5 2/3 innings, but he avoided taking a loss. In addition to the nearly two weeks between starts for Vazquez, he hasn't earned a victory in over a month -- June 17 against Pittsburgh. He's allowed at least four runs in all but one start since June 6. He'll be thrown right back into the fire for his first start of the season against Texas' high-powered offense. Vazquez is 2-1 in four career starts against the Rangers, despite posting a 6.29 ERA.
