Director of Digital Communications

Reports to: Senior Vice President of Communications


  • Oversee all digital communications for the Chicago White Sox (websites, email communications, social media platforms, mobile applications and intranet)
  • Serve in a leadership role within the department, responsible for the delivery of an integrated digital communications strategy across a variety of departments: Game Operations, Broadcasting, Ticketing, Community Relations, Advertising, Public Relations and Media Relations
  • Develop unique digital content and direct strategic digital communications plans for a variety of organization-wide initiatives (breaking news, ticket sales, Chicago White Sox Charities programs, promotions, events and more)
  • Create fan-engagement initiatives to increase followers and encourage interaction with White Sox digital assets (,, social media platforms and mobile), including customized content, trivia, polls, contests, sweepstakes and more
  • Act as key White Sox liaison to Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM)
  • Supervise White Sox Digital Communications Department personnel (Manager of Online Communications and Social Media Coordinator, plus Intern)
  • Manage relationships with third-party digital agencies - Digital Royalty (Social Media), Intranet Connections and Sparkcentral
  • Develop and manage a yearly editorial calendar of key events, announcements, unique content and various storylines for digital offerings
  • Generate content ideas and organize production of behind-the-scenes videos for,, White Sox social media assets and Video on Demand
  • Develop creative campaigns and manage execution for special initiatives such as annual All-Star voting, the All-Star Final Man Vote, Awards (Rookie of the Year, MVP, Cy Young) and Hall-of-Fame voting
  • Oversee development of websites and micro-sites for White Sox partners and players (e.g. Paul Konerko final season, Minnie Minoso Hall of Fame campaign microsite, etc.)
  • Establish and maintain budgets for White Sox digital initiatives, video production, special events relating to social media engagement
  • Manage the White Sox corporate intranet in both development and daily content
  • Monitor effectiveness of all White Sox digital communications efforts and track progress by creating and delivering monthly progress reports


  • Exceptional writing and proofreading skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly
  • Ability to multi-task and oversee the development of a wide variety of projects at the same time
  • Ability to collaborate on projects with multiple departments and various contacts
  • Inclusive, team player
  • Engaged and up-to-date on all advancements in the digital space; active in social media
  • Intuitive digital, marketing, public relations and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Interest in and understanding of Major League Baseball and Chicago White Sox Baseball history and culture
  • Positive, optimistic and high-energy individual
  • Problem solver with high standards of ethics and integrity
  • 5-7 years experience (including staff management)
