2015 Public Relations Intern

The Chicago White Sox seek an energetic writer and communicator to enhance publicity of the club's off-the-field efforts. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with media and a proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines. Ideal candidate is self-motivated, takes initiative and has a positive attitude.

Job Responsibilities:
Assisting the Director and Coordinator of Public Relations with development and implementation of efforts to increase publicity and recognition of:

  • Marketing initiatives, including promotional and theme nights, giveaways, in-park entertainment and ballpark news and events;
  • Community relations programming, charitable programs, White Sox Charities fundraising efforts, special events and player appearances;
  • Corporate partnerships and ticket sales efforts; and
  • White Sox Training Academy programs and events.
  • Writing and editing internal and external communications vehicles, including press releases and advisories, game programs, sales and marketing materials, website and community relations newsletter.
  • Monitoring print and broadcast media coverage and compiling monthly coverage reports.
  • Creating and maintaining local and national media lists
  • Offering administrative support to the communications department as needed.


  • Degree in journalism, communications or public relations.
  • Proven writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, juggle multiple projects and anticipate and meet deadlines.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Fluency in Spanish and working knowledge of baseball a plus.
  • Must be available to work nights and/or weekends as dictated by the home baseball schedule.
