Director of Game Entertainment, Operations & Fan Engagement

Reports to: Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing

The Director of Game Entertainment, Operations and Fan Engagement oversees the game entertainment and operations (pre, in-game, & post-game) along with creating compelling fan engagement strategies for the Chicago White Sox. We are looking for highly energized and creative individual with a collaborative management style. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating, implementing and managing all aspects of game entertainment, operations, and fan engagement, with an understanding of how to use technology to create a memorable fan experience.

Job Requirements:

  • Make a White Sox game appealing not just to die hard baseball fans but to the widest possible spectrum of entertainment seekers.
  • Direct game operations for all White Sox home games; including supervision of all departmental staff
  • Prepare and manage Game Entertainment, Operations and Fan Engagement budgets and reports.
  • Create and execute pre-game, in game and post-game events, features, segments and scripts which include current and upcoming activities, sponsored and non-sponsored fan interactive contests, celebrity and special guest interviews, and information about the team/ballpark.
  • Create and execute in-game and half-inning entertainment and fan interactive features, prompts and contests.
  • Assist Corporate Partners in designing events to brand their product or services as well as the White Sox Organization. This includes the development of the schedule of events and programming of entertainment activities surrounding sponsored and non-sponsored events and theme nights and the development and maintenance of a catalog of promotional features to entertain fans and to be sold by Corporate Partnerships Department.
  • Assist other departments to create, promote and execute events and ceremonies beneficial to their initiatives as well as the organization as a whole, including but not limited to Group Sales Nights.
  • Develop ways to engage fans through their mobile devices.
  • Create and execute all theme night entertainment and promotions, including fireworks nights
  • Oversee production of public address log, all scoreboard/left field matrix/LED scripts for scoreboard operator, including creation of all scripts for public address announcer
  • Oversee the Scoreboard/Production staff, creating ways to engage fans through video.
  • Work with Social Media Department to create events, features and content for in park and externally viewing and participation via our social media assets.
  • Deliver content and administer the At the Ballpark mobile application. Promote the mobile app to create additional fan engagement.

Preferred Skills:

  • College Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in game entertainment, game operations or fan engagement role. Management/Operational experience at a collegiate or professional league level in a stadium or arena environment is a plus.
  • 3 years of direct supervisory experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to present ideas and information clearly
  • Ability to multi-task and oversee the development of a wide variety of projects at the same time
  • Must be a creative thinker with the ability to conceptualize and execute fan focused interactive promotions/events
  • Ability to collaborate on projects with multiple departments and various contacts
  • Inclusive, team player
  • Engaged and up-to-date on all advancements in the scoreboard/digital content creation and distribution. Understanding digital media (social, use of applications) creation and execution will be necessary.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Interest in and understanding of Major League Baseball and Chicago White Sox Baseball history and culture
  • Positive, creative and high-energy individual
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as dictated by the home baseball 81 game schedule
