Internship Program



Chicago White Sox Internship Program

The Chicago White Sox sponsors an annual graduate paid internship program. The internship if full-time and generally runs between 10-12 months. We assign interns to the following departments:

Sales Department (November - September)
  • A Chicago White Sox Sales Intern is responsible for selling new season and "small group" (20-500 tickets) ticket packages and party areas. Goals and responsibilities are assigned each year with the intended purpose of driving ticket sales in all areas of concentration.
  • Sales representatives are expected to make a minimum of 50 new outgoing sales calls daily
  • Service the customers of new accounts
  • Responsible for assisting in the sales of all large groups (500 or more tickets)
  • Responsible for following up with sales phone calls to prospective grand slam groups or fundraising groups
  • Assist in taking individual orders over the phone for all coupon nights and radio promotions
  • Coordinate group leader incentive program
  • Develop and implement control processes for supporting sales of party areas
  • Manage inventory of diamond suites and pre-game patio party areas
  • Facilitate all season ticket holder correspondence and/or special offers
  • Responsible for traffic flow of all paperwork for season tickets, group tickets, diamond suites and pre-game patio parties
  • Organize and facilitate the White Sox Student Achiever Program and any other ticket coupon promotions
  • Day of Game duties required
  • Special projects as assigned by Sr. Manager of Ticket Sales
  • Support the sales team by assisting in the development of easy to fulfill promotions and special offers
Media Relations Department (January - November)
  • Assist in coordinating interview requests with players/coaches/staff on both national and local levels
  • Assist in the production of media guide and postseason publications
  • Research, write and edit game notes and statistical data on a daily basis during the season
  • Assist with club's media relations efforts during home baseball games
  • Compile "news clips" for distribution on a daily basis
  • Assist with any departmental administrative tasks as needed
Public Relations Department (November - October)
  • Assisting the Director and Sr. Coordinator of Public Relations with development and implementation of efforts to increase publicity and recognition of:
  • Marketing initiatives, including promotional and theme nights, giveaways, in-park entertainment and ballpark news and events;
  • Community relations programming, charitable programs, White Sox Charities fundraising efforts, special events and player appearances;
  • Corporate partnerships and ticket sales efforts; and
  • White Sox Training Academy programs and events.
  • Writing and editing internal and external communications vehicles, including press releases and advisories, game programs, sales and marketing materials, website and community relations newsletter.
  • Monitoring print and broadcast media coverage and compiling monthly coverage reports.
  • Creating and maintaining local and national media lists
  • Offering administrative support to the communications department as needed.
Qualifications
  • College Degree, in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or other related field
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, juggle multiple projects and anticipate and meet deadlines
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Any database or ticketing system experience a plus.
  • Telemarketing or sales experience a plus
  • One year experience in collegiate Sports Information Office a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish and working knowledge of baseball a plus
  • Available full time from November 1st through October 31st
  • Must be available to work nights and/or weekends as dictated by the home baseball schedule
