This Day in Baseball History:
December 14, 1985 > Roger Maris dies from cancer at the age of 51. Maris is best remembered for surpassing Babe Ruth and swatting a record 61 home runs in 1961, but he was also considered a terrific all-around player in his prime. A two-time MVP and four-time All-Star, Maris won World Championships with the Yankees in 1961 and '62, and another with the Cardinals in 1967.
