Thome's homer propels Sox
Two-run shot in ninth gives Chicago victory over Atlanta

Friday, March 31 Braves at the plate: Atlanta scored twice in the first inning, when left fielder Pablo Ozuna dropped Adam LaRoche's fly ball on the left-field line. Chipper Jones, who had two singles, scored the Braves' third run on a Jeff Francoeur groundout. White Sox at the plate: Paul Konerko began the eighth inning with his third homer of the spring. Juan Uribe had a double and two singles. The White Sox scored their first two runs on ground outs by Brian Anderson and Paul Konerko. Jim Thome hit a game-winning two-run homer in the ninth off Brian O'Connor. Braves on the mound: Horacio Ramirez allowed two earned runs and eight hits (all singles) in four innings. Blaine Boyer faced the minimum while completing a scoreless fifth inning. White Sox on the mound: Charlie Haeger allowed three runs -- one earned -- and five hits in 4 2/3 innings. Cliff Politte allowed a hit and issued a walk in one scoreless inning. Up next: The Braves and White Sox will play again at Turner Field on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. CT. Jorge Sosa will face Chicago right-hander Jon Garland.
