MARINERS 11, WHITE SOX 6
at Tucson, Ariz.
Thursday, March 22

Mariners at the plate: Willie Bloomquist finished with four hits, three runs scored, two RBIs and his eighth and ninth stolen bases of the spring. Raul Ibanez singled, doubled and scored two runs, and one-time White Sox farmhand Michael Morse launched his second home run.

White Sox at the plate: Tadahito Iguchi had two more hits, pushing his spring average over .200. Jim Thome drove a long home run out to left in the first inning off starter Horacio Ramirez and Joe Crede doubled and drove in a run via a sacrifice fly.

Mariners on the mound: Ramirez didn't make it through the first inning because of the 45-minute rain delay, giving up Thome's two-run blast to left before the weather changed. Justin Lehr worked three scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit, while striking out two.

White Sox on the mound: Jose Contreras met the same fate as Ramirez, with his Cactus League start shortened to one inning by the rain. The right-hander yielded one run on two hits.

Cactus League records: Mariners 9-15; White Sox 9-15.

Up next: The fifth starter battle continues at Hi Corbett Field on Friday, with John Danks getting the start against Colorado, followed by Gavin Floyd. The game is scheduled for a 3:05 p.m. CT first pitch. The Mariners play host to the Angels, their rivals from the AL West.
