White Sox at the plate: Toby Hall had three hits, including an RBI single.
Rockies at the plate: Garrett Atkins knocked a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth. Willy Taveras doubled and singled, Matt Holliday singled and walked, and Kazuo Matsui walked twice.
White Sox on the mound: Left-hander John Danks, considered the frontrunner for the fifth starter's spot, gave up one hit, walked three and struck out two in four shutout innings. Gavin Floyd gave up four runs on the Atkins homer in the sixth.
Rockies on the mound: Opening Day starter Aaron Cook gave up two runs, one earned, and six hits in six innings. Cook walked two and didn't give up any extra-base hits.
Cactus League records: White Sox 9-16, Rockies 12-9-1
