Game 1 will begin at 2:55 p.m. CT on FOX, with the nightcap scheduled to begin 30 minutes after the completion of Game 1 on Comcast Sports Net.
John Danks and Justin Verlander were set to square off on Friday, but Danks instead will get an additional off-day and likely pitch Sunday night. Javier Vazquez will throw Game 1 on Saturday, with the second starter still to be determined.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen likely will opt for Lance Broadway to start the nightcap. Guillen had been leaning toward Broadway to start Sunday, but he likely will move him up to accommodate Danks. The other option would be D.J. Carrasco, who has not started a game for the White Sox this season.
The Tigers will throw Kenny Rogers and Zach Miner, respectively, in the doubleheader and hold on to Verlander for Sunday.
Fans may exchange tickets to Friday's canceled game for tickets of equal or lesser value (based on availability) to any future regular-season White Sox game. Parking also may be exchanged for any future regular-season game. All exchanges should be made at the U.S. Cellular Field Box Office, either by mail (333 W. 35th Street, Chicago, IL 60616) or in person.
The South Siders played a doubleheader against the Blue Jays on Tuesday and lost both ends. It's not an experience Guillen would like to go through again.
"Well, it's not the best thing in the world when we have a doubleheader," Guillen said. "I don't remember having a happy face after we [left] the last doubleheader. It's something you can't control.
"I don't make enough money to be here all day long. Every time you play a doubleheader, there is too much pressure on the players to be here all day long. Our experience in the past is we're not too good doing that."
Danks, who has struggled at times in the second half, might benefit from an extra day of rest. After posting a 2.67 ERA before the All-Star break, Danks is has a 5.04 mark since. He is 0-3 in his last four starts and twice has been pulled after only four innings.
He threw a session in the bullpen on Friday and said he felt as good as ever.
"It was good," Danks said. "It was really good. It's probably the best I've felt in a while. I was throwing all four pitches over for strikes. And I know it doesn't always translate over into the game, but I felt really good going out there for the first inning.
The forecast for the rest of the weekend is more rain. If the weather forces another postponement, the teams will play a day-night doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The White Sox and Tigers don't share an off-day in common, so games that are not made up this weekend might be rescheduled for after the season.
"It is what it is," Sox designated hitter Jim Thome said. "We have to come out [on Saturday] and be ready to go, and be ready to go Sunday, too. It's unfortunate, but you can't play when it's raining.
"We get to go home and get a little rest. I get to put my kids to bed. That's always a good thing."
