The Chicago White Sox have claimed left-handed pitcher Daniel Moskos (MOSS-kiss) off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates and optioned him to Class AAA Charlotte.
Moskos, 26, has appeared in 14 games with Class AAA Indianapolis this season, going 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA (6 ER/14.0 IP), 11 strikeouts and a .241 (13-54) opponents average. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder was designated for assignment on June 26.
Moskos was 1-1 with a 2.96 ERA (8 ER/24.1 IP) over 31 appearances with Pittsburgh last season, his first at the major-league level. He went 23-26 with a 4.39 ERA (190 ER/389.2 IP) in 169 games (56 starts) over six seasons in the Pirates minor-league system.
He originally was selected by Pittsburgh with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
With the claim, the White Sox 40-man roster is at 39.
