    The Houston Astros return home on the heels of a 6-1 road trip, extending their division lead to 13.0 games, to take on the Oakland A's (June 27-29) and New York Yankees (June 30 - July 2) in the final homestand of the first half of 2017. The Astros have played very well against division opponents this season, going 28-11 thus far. On June 22, Houston hit the 50-win benchmark, becoming the first team in MLB to do so. The Astros, who currently own an MLB-best record (52-25) and winning percentage (.675), did not win their 52nd game in 2016 until July 22.

    Major League Baseball released its fifth update of the American League All-Star voting results today, which revealed the same standings as last week's update, with Jose Altuve leading all second baseman, Carlos Correa leading all shortstops, and George Springer ranking third among outfielders.

  • Astros sign 15 players from 2017 MLB Draft class

    The Houston Astros have signed 15 additional players who were selected in the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft, including second baseman J.J. Matijevic (Competitive Balance Round B), right-handed pitcher Peter Solomon (4th round) and left-handed pitcher Parker Mushinski (7th round).

    The Houston Astros have signed 10 players who were selected in the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Those players include right-handed pitcher Tyler Ivey (3rd round), catcher Nathan Perry (5th round), first baseman Jake Adams (6th round) and center fielder Corey Julks (8th round), who were all selected within the top 10 rounds of the 2017 draft.

    The first-place Houston Astros are hosting the AL East-contending Boston Red Sox (June 16-18) for a three-game set to wrap up the current nine-game homestand. Despite going 2-4 in the previous two series, the Astros still have the best record (45-22) and winning percentage (.672) in MLB. The Astros are off to their best 67-game start in franchise history, a full 4.0 games better than their previous best record of 41-26, achieved most recently in 1999. They currently hold an 11.0 game lead in the AL West Division, the largest division lead in MLB, and have led by as many as 14.0 this season.

  • Astros sign Cuban free agent pitcher Elian Rodriguez

    The Houston Astros have signed Cuban right-handed pitcher Elian Rodriguez to a minor league contract. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow and Astros Director of International Oz Ocampo. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

  • Astros Make Four Selections in 2017 MLB Draft Tonight

    HOUSTON, TX - The Houston Astros have completed their selections tonight by picking third baseman Joe Perez, right-handed pitcher Corbin Martin and second baseman J.J. Matijevic in Day 1 of the June 2017 First-Year Player Draft. Perez and Martin were selected in the second round (#53 and #56, respectively) and Matijevic was selected in the Competitive Balance Round B (#75 overall).

  • Record-Setting Astros Return Home for Nine-Game Homestand as Top Team in MLB

    The Houston Astros are off to the most blistering start in franchise history and return home with MLB's best record (42-18) and winning percentage (.700). The Astros will host the LA Angels of Anaheim (June 9-11), Texas Rangers (June 12-14) and Boston Red Sox (June 16-18) for a nine-game homestand beginning tomorrow.
