Thomas placed on 15-day DL
Outfielder Borchard recalled from Triple-A Charlotte
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
CHICAGO - Prior to tonight's game vs. Seattle, the Chicago White Sox placed designated hitter Frank Thomas on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 7th) with left ankle tendinitis and recalled outfielder Joe Borchard from Class AAA Charlotte.

Thomas, 36, was hitting .271 (65-240) with 18 home runs and 49 RBI in 74 games. The 6-foot-5, 275-pounder leads the American League in walks (64) and on-base percentage (.434), ranks fifth in slugging percentage (.563) and seventh in home runs at the time of the transaction. Thomas was hitless in his last nine at-bats and was 4-34 (.118) over his previous 12 games.

Borchard, 25, was hitting .267 (77-288) with 16 home runs and 48 RBI in 78 games with the Knights at the time of his promotion. The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder appeared in 16 games (15 starts) with the White Sox last season and has gone 17-85 (.200) with three home runs and 20 RBI in 31 major-league games.
