CHICAGO -- Prior to tonight's game vs. Los Angeles, the Chicago White Sox purchased the contract of infielder/outfielder Jason Bourgeois from Triple-A Charlotte and designated right-handed pitcher Charlie Haeger for assignment.

Bourgeois (pronounced "Boo-geois") batted .286 (146-510) with nine home runs, 48 RBI, 83 runs scored and 30 stolen bases in 127 games with Charlotte this season. The 5-foot-9, 190-pounder played in 109 games in the outfield and 19 at second base.

Bourgeois, 26, was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on December 19, 2006. He has no major-league experience and will wear uniform No. 38.

Haeger, 24, was 10-13 with a 4.45 ERA (88 ER/178.0 IP) and 117 strikeouts in 28 games (25 starts) with the Knights in 2008.

The White Sox active roster is at 35 players, and the 40-man roster remains at 40.
