Anderson hits first spring homer in loss
Garland allows four runs on eight hits over three innings

Friday, March 9 White Sox at the plate: Brian Anderson hit his first homer of the spring in the third off Edgar Gonzalez. Anderson came into the game in 3-for-16 funk. First baseman Paul Konerko picked up a couple of hits before leaving the game for a pinch-runner in the sixth. D-backs at the plate: Chris Young and Alberto Callaspo hit back-to-back homers to lead off the third inning. Two outs later, Orlando Hudson tripled and scored on Carlos Quentin's double. Carlos Gonzalez added an RBI single later in the frame. Callaspo also added a single in the fourth.
White Sox on the mound: Starter Jon Garland's tough spring continued as he allowed four runs on eight hits over three innings. John Danks followed Garland and worked three scoreless innings. The lefty got five ground-ball outs including two double plays.D-backs on the mound: A pair of contenders for the final two spots in the rotation took the mound for Arizona. Edgar Gonzalez started and allowed one run on two hits over three innings. Micah Owings followed him to the mound and had a shaky first inning when he walked a pair, but settled in during his second frame. Cactus League records: White Sox 2-9; D-backs 6-4. Up next: The White Sox will play split-squad games on Saturday. They will play host to the A's at Tucson Electric Park with Lance Broadway starting against Brad Halsey. Left-hander Mark Buehrle will get the start in the other game against the Rockies at Hi Corbett Field. Jason Hirsh will start for Colorado. The D-backs meanwhile will travel to Maryvale for their first look of the spring at the Brewers. Dana Eveland will start and be followed to the mound by Enrique Gonzalez, Jose Valverde and Juan Cruz.
