Danks on track for Monday start

Lefty has shown improvement after developing blisters

CHICAGO -- White Sox starter John Danks was not in the clubhouse Wednesday, but the team announced that the injured hurler is on track for his scheduled start Monday.

Danks developed blisters on his left index finger while in Minnesota before the All-Star break. In that start, Danks walked the first four batters of the game and allowed four runs in the first but rebounded and didn't give up another run whille lasting 5 2/3 innings.

The left-hander has shown improvement and will join the team in Detroit on Saturday to throw a side session. If all goes well, he will be on track to make his next start Monday in Minnesota.

"He's fine," White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. "He's on schedule to start a game when he has to."

Danks made one more start after the blister sprouted and earned a win against Baltimore before the injury caused him to be sidelined for what would have been his day in the rotation Wednesday. The club purchased the contract of Carlos Torres from Triple-A Charlotte prior to the game, and he got the start in place of Danks.

Danks has posted a 3.98 ERA in 18 starts this season. He had made five straight quality starts before the injury occurred in Minnesota.
