Beckham slotted in No. 9 spot in lineup

Youkilis takes over second spot in White Sox order

MINNEAPOLIS -- With new third baseman Kevin Youkilis assuming the No. 2 spot in the White Sox lineup, second baseman Gordon Beckham hit in the nine-hole against Minnesota on Monday.

Beckham flourished of late hitting second. He entered Monday's game with a .317 average (33-for-104) over his last 25 games.

"He'll still do well," manager Robin Ventura said. "He'll be fine. It puts him in a nice spot."

The White Sox are 25-19 in games in which Beckham hits second, where he touts a .265 average. Chicago is 12-11 in games with him hitting ninth. He owns a .197 average while slotted at the bottom of the lineup.

Ventura is hoping Beckham can spark the end of the order. Beckham is hitting .249 overall with nine home runs and 32 RBIs.

"We've had issues at the bottom, too," Ventura said. "I think it just extends our lineup."
