White Sox Smart Car Raffle Winner Selected
More Than $54,000 Raised for White Sox Charities
Michelle Siorek from Chicago was randomly selected as the winner of the nearly season-long Chicago White Sox Charities (CWSC) raffle for a 2012 White Sox-themed passion coupe smart car, donated by smart center of Orland Park.
Between May 11 and August 31, the White Sox sold nearly 5,500 raffle tickets, raising almost $55,000 for White Sox Charities, the team's philanthropic arm. CWSC, which helps fund hundreds of Chicago-based organizations, including those leading the fight against cancer and dedicated to improving the lives of Chicago's youth through education, athletics and family support programs, awarded close to $1.41 million in grants and other donations this year alone, bringing its cumulative giving since its inception in 1990 to almost $17 million.
The White Sox will present Siorek with her new smart car (image of the vehicle attached), emblazoned with Sox logos and script on all sides, on the field prior to the September 24 game vs. the Cleveland Indians.
