Right-hander Sanchez claimed off waivers from Rays

CHICAGO -- The White Sox claimed right-hander Angel Sanchez off waivers from Tampa Bay and assigned him to Class A Winston Salem on Wednesday.

Sanchez, 24, posted a 7.04 ERA in 14 starts this season between Double-A Jacksonville in the Marlins system and Double-A Montgomery in the Rays system. He began the season with Miami before being claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay on June 13. The Rays designated him for assignment on June 30.

Ranked by MLB.com as the No. 16 prospect in the Marlins organization entering the 2014 season, Sanchez was originally signed by the Dodgers as a free agent on July 12, 2010.

The White Sox 40-man roster is at 39.
