8/22/2016 | Rays' Archer out to keep rolling vs. Red Sox

The Rays are among the hottest teams and will have a chance to continue their winning ways Tuesday against Clay Buchholz and the Red Sox with their ace, Chris Archer, on the mound at Tropicana Field.

8/22/2016 | Price stifles Rays as Sox join Jays atop East

The Rays entered Monday's series opener against the Red Sox having scored 55 runs in the previous seven games. Apparently the only thing that could cool them off was facing Red Sox lefty ace David Price. The former Rays star pitched eight scoreless innings, allowing just two hits in a 6-2 Red Sox win at Tropicana Field.

8/22/2016 | Kiermaier back, but Rays will exercise caution

Kevin Kiermaier rejoined the Rays' starting lineup for Monday's 6-2 loss to the Red Sox after a two-day absence, but Tampa Bay is going to be cautious with its Gold Glove Award-winning center fielder.

8/22/2016 | Hader, Hansen among top prospect performers Sunday

Finding success at the Triple-A level hasn't come easily for Josh Hader. At least not until Sunday night, when the Brewers' No. 4 prospect set a career high by striking out 12 hitters in six scoreless innings to pace Colorado Springs in a 6-0 shutout of Round Rock.

8/21/2016 | Back in action, Forsythe returns with a blast

Logan Forsythe, who had missed four games with back spasms, hit a three-run opposite-field homer in his third at-bat to create breathing room in the Rays' 8-4 win over the American League West-leading Rangers at Tropicana Field.

8/21/2016 | Price returns to The Trop to face Snell, Rays

The Red Sox begin the last leg of a four-city, 11-game road trip Monday with David Price taking the mound at Tropicana Field, the ballpark where he began his career. Price will oppose a young pitcher doing the same. Blake Snell is in his first season with the Rays and is seeking back-to-back wins for the first time.

8/21/2016 | Heating up, Beckham shows speed with 2 3Bs

Tim Beckham is getting an opportunity to show what he can do this year, and on Saturday he became the first Rays player to hit two triples in a game since Carl Crawford accomplished the feat in 2008.

8/21/2016 | 5-run 4th carries Rays to series win over Rangers

Logan Forsythe delivered the big blow for Tampa Bay with a three-run home run in a five-run fourth inning, as the Rays captured the series with an 8-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field.

8/20/2016 | Maile met with silence after thunderous blast

It was right about when Luke Maile got to second base that he realized what was coming.

8/20/2016 | 6th-inning play turning point in Rangers-Rays

The Rays ended up winning by six runs, but there's little doubt what was the pivotal moment in their 8-2 victory over the Rangers on Saturday night.

8/20/2016 | Strong of late, Smyly gets the call vs. Texas

From mid-May to late July, Drew Smyly went 11 starts and nearly 2 1/2 months without a win. His season, though, has gotten on track. The left-hander has posted three wins in his last four starts, and he'll hope to post another when the Rays take on the Rangers in the series finale on Sunday at Tropicana Field.

8/20/2016 | Odorizzi deals for Rays in win against Texas

Rays starter Jake Odorizzi showed why the Rangers were interested in trading for him last month.

8/20/2016 | Rays call up Shaffer, activate Romero from DL

The Rays called up Richie Shaffer from Triple-A Durham and activated lefty reliever Enny Romero from the disabled list prior to Saturday's 8-2 win against the Rangers. Ryan Garton was optioned to Durham, and Nick Franklin was placed on the 7-day concussion DL.

8/20/2016 | Forsythe (back), Kiermaier (hip) out for Rays

Second baseman Logan Forsythe and center fielder Kevin Kiermaier were both out of the Rays' starting lineup for Saturday's 8-2 win against the Rangers at Tropicana Field.

8/20/2016 | Cozens, Honeywell among top prospect performers Friday

For much of the season, it's been either Dylan Cozens and Rhys Hoskins pacing the Minor Leagues in home runs. On Friday, it was Cozens who took the outright lead as he belted his 36th and 37th home runs to help power Double-A Reading to a 9-1 rout against Erie in game one of a doubleheader.

8/19/2016 | Rays lament 'lackadasical' defensive miscues

Mikie Mahtook saw his looping toss from center field go as slowly as it could into the glove of the cutoff man, Tim Beckham. It was a helpless feeling, knowing he'd made a mistake before Beckham caught it but after Elvis Andrus had broke for home.

8/19/2016 | Kiermaier, Franklin exit game early

Nick Franklin was placed on the seven-day concussion disabled list after exiting Friday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers following the third inning. Center fielder Kevin Kiermaier also exited Friday's game as a precaution with left hip tightness.

8/19/2016 | Forsythe out of starting lineup to rest back

Logan Forsythe hadn't played the last two games for Tampa Bay, and he didn't start Friday's game against the Rangers, either. The Rays' second baseman felt his back spasm on Tuesday before a game and was scratched. He said on Wednesday that he expected to start on Friday, but he will evidently need more time.

8/19/2016 | Odorizzi, Griffin face off at Tropicana Field

The first half of Jake Odorizzi's season was defined by, at best, its inconsistency. Since the All-Star break, though, he's consistently been one of the best starters in baseball. He'll look to continue that when he faces the Rangers on Saturday, as he has 1.37 career ERA against them.

8/19/2016 | Beltre's blasts back Hamels' heat in victory

Rangers left-hander Cole Hamels had a no-hitter for 5 2/3 innings but had to settle for a 6-2 victory over the Rays on Friday night at Tropicana Field. Adrian Beltre hit two home runs for the 30th time in his career, and the Rangers have now won four straight.
