Santana still looking for win

Johan Santana is still winless this season after a solid outing, giving up two runs in seven innings with six strikeouts in the series opener. Lew Ford's solo homer in the top of the eighth inning was all the Twins would get against Mark Buehrle.

Jim Thome broke the ice against Twins starter Johan Santana with a two-run blast in the sixth, and Jermaine Dye's eighth-inning double off Juan Rincon and an ensuing two-base error broke open the game. Mark Buehrle held Minnesota to one run in eight innings.
