White Sox slip back
Tigers 7, White Sox 1
Jose Contreras recovers after allowing a two-run homer to Craig Monroe. (Duane Burleson/AP)
 Dye's solo homer
Jose Contreras struggled again, allowing seven earned runs for the second consecutive outing, as the White Sox dropped 6 1/2 games back of the Tigers in the AL Central Division. Jermaine Dye clubbed his career-high 34th homer, a solo shot in the second inning, but the South Siders went down quietly the rest of the night.
