About the Foundation
The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation and the Washington Nationals Baseball Club are committed to community partnerships that improve the lives of children and families across the Washington Capital Region and assist with the growth of baseball. The Foundation's cornerstone programs are focused on children's education, health and recreation.
A 501(c)3 charitable organization, the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation has committed to, among other projects, a partnership with the District of Columbia Government to build the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy to teach the fundamentals of baseball and provide after-school educational programs for children in the DC region. The Foundation has also joined with the Children's National Medical Center to create a Pediatric Diabetes Care Complex.
The Washington Nationals Foundation was established in 2005 and re-launched as the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation in 2007 under new team owners, the Lerner family and partners. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, tax ID number 34-2034830. Contributions to this organization are deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.The Foundation's Board of Directors has adopted the following guiding principles:
- Be a responsible steward of the Foundation's resources
- Provide resources in support of the Foundation vision and mission
- Be an advocate for baseball and promote cooperation and support for fundraising for the Foundation
- Develop non-investment revenue from public and private sources to support the mission and criteria of the Foundation
